I have a 98 Ficht 150 and yes-while I?m aware of its history- I?ve pamper it since 98- and so far ? nothing catastrophic. But now- I?m getting constant water in fuel alarm #37.
I have the FFI diagnostic software and can?t clear the code. The alarm horn goes off after starting, not turning the key.
All the maintenance manual says is to put an ohm lead on one end of the sensor- put the other end of the sensor in water with the other ohm probe and read continuity. I understand that the water is to take the signal to ground, the probe itself reads 0 ohms- and in water it ranges from 2meg to 150 ohms. I rang the wire from the clip to the ECU plug and it?s good.
So my suspicion is that the ECU has this code ?stuck? in its synthetic brain, and it won?t clear.
Am I right in thinking that I should be able to eliminate the alarm if the sensor is in an empty filter- or the wire is off. I mean- if this probe shows continuity (close to 0 ohms) in water-and that would complete the circuit to ground and generate the alarm- than unplugging it should silence the alarm??
Is there any specific test for the water alarm- or am I looking at a repair on the ECU (from DFI)?
I don?t think the water in fuel alarm will cause ? speed- and at a DFI repair of $609.00 I?m thinking I could live with that annoying 15 second alarm- as long as there is not another alarm underneath it, but I could periodically check the alarm stack with the software.
Would anyone recommend the ECH get a physical from DFI (it has all the upgrades from the 99/00 patch)
Your thoughts??
