just installed new control cables when i run at wot and throttle down try to get in neutral wont come out of gear, the throttle linkage is stuck when i push linkage manually it comes out of gear as it should. also the cables are very tight working, is there an adjustment, or is this how new cables are????

I have a '97, 150 and my manual cautions to follow the set-up procedure or there will be excessive wear and hard shifting.

I know that this isn't too much help, but it's the best I can do at the moment.

they were installed by certified johnson tech in south jersey

If you paid someone to install, and it's not correct, it's the installer I'd be contacting everyday until he makes it right!!! There are thumbwheel adjusters for positioning throttle and LU control that take some knowledge and experience to position correctly. Improper adjustment can cause premature wear and damage to lower unit components. Bug them until they fix it right!!

Unfortunately too many people are certifyable (I may be one of them). How about that certified used car? I knew the dang thing wasen't new.
