My son ran the Waveraider 760 until the low oil light was flashing. Then it shut down but would still turn over. I am guessing that there is a safety circuit that shuts the machine down to keep from burning up the engine. We put in oil and bled the pump as in the service manual, but no start. Checked for spark and appears to have none. Anyone have an idea before I haul it to the dealer?

there isn't a shutdown feature as far as i remember for a 760....

when you filled it back up the lowoil light/icon went off, no?

you ran it so low you emptied the tank?

Not sure how low it really got, but the light was flashing and it stopped, so we assumed that it shut itself down to avoid burning engine up. After review of the service manual, it appears that there is no shutdown feature as you mention, so it may have just been a coincidence that it quit while the low oil gauge was flashing. Did not check exact level before refilling, and yes, the low oil indicator is no longer flashing. I checked the stop switch for a short but that does not appear to be the problem. Am wondering if the coil is bad or other faulty component in the electrical system. Anyone know what is the most common component to fail so I can check it first? Thanks!
