Hi, I have a 97' SEA-Doo Xp.

My problem is when I get my jet ski started....I go to accletrate on the gas...however, when I start to acclerate it goes fine, Untill I hit about 25% speed. Then my jet ski starts to stay AT CONSTANT at about 25% speed and it won't go any faster. However My RPM'S REVE UP TO FULL BLAST! AND IS GETTING FULL POWER!
But it seems that it is not getting water intake to increse speed. It reves up as loud as it can like it is going full blast yet it will only go a little faster than idle speed....You get what I mean?

I don't know what to do..or how to fix it! And I have continued to run it for at least 10 seconds...to see if it willl take off at full blast. But I don't because I don't want to blow my engine because it is roaring at full blast! Even though my jet ski is not going anywhere!

CAN ANYBODY PLZ HELP ME!!!!!
I REALLY NEED SOME EXPERT ADDVICE!!!

~Jason :(

either your impeller is shot your pto flywheel is shot or your pump needs new berrings, probably the latter, pull the pump look at the driveshaft splines and look in your pump if water is in it your probably going to need a new pump , if its that bad you ate the thrust berring and internal housing I devised a way to rebuild the inner parts of the pump but You will be better off to just get a used one, does the pump sing pretty bad out of the water if so the berrings are worn

actually I would lean more towards the wear ring surrounding the impeller..that's called cavitation or in essence-it's sucking air because there is too much space between the impeller and the wear ring...simple to inspect by pulling the pump housing...with a new ski it's hard to slide a piece of paper between impeller and wear ring...they wear out from running sand, shells, weeds, etc thru the pump

yes you are describing cavitation and its too bad for a bad wear ring to cause it to do what you describe, also look in the intake grate for something wrapped around the drive shaft that will do what you describe and is probably the culprit if not then the pump is bad and ate the thrust berring.
