Hello guys, Sorry to bother you on Saturday, but I have run into a slight snag.

I am replacing the trigger and stator on a 1997 Mercury 115. The Stator and trigger replacements are both CDI products and the parts that are being removed are both Mercury OEM parts. The snag that I have run into is that the wiring colors are different and I cannot find a cross reference anywhere telling me which wire color replaces which color.

Here is what I am seeing:
Trigger
The old trigger has four wires which are violet, beige, brown, and black.
The new trigger has four wires that are purple, brown, white, and white with black stripe.

Stator
The old stator has four wires which are yellow, yellow, beige/green stripe, and green/white stripe.
The new stator has six wires which are yellow, yellow, blue, blue/white stripe, red, red/white stripe.

I am stumped and cannot find anyhting on CDI's website about this. Do any of you guys know?

Thanks,
Brad

I figured it out. I was making it much more difficult than it was. She is running again now. WooHoo!

Re: 97 Mercury 115 Trigger Replacement wiring questions

Your old stator is a red stator and the replacement stator is a standard stator, so you need to check if it's the right replacement, if it is then you will need to remove the voltage adapter and the red and blue wire will go to the switchbox (it should be marked) an the red/white and blue/white go to ground.
