97 four Winn’s fling

hi folks I’m new to this forum . I purchased a 97 four Winn’s fling jet boat last year . When I got it in the water and finally running with new fresh fuel , when going full throttle it takes off like a rocket for about 10-15 seconds and starts to die and looses power . If I hold the choke in when it starts doing it it’s totally fine

is this a common problem on these? I believe it’s a 115 hp Johnson on an Omc jet?

Clean the carburetors !!-----Do a compression test before spending any coins on this motor.-----Broken piston rings are common on these crossflow V-4 motors.
