Can you post the year and the model number. Also if you have any history about the motor would be helpful.

Overhauling and adjusting the carb should do it, provided you have adequate compression and spark.

The motor has great compression and runs very well.Its just a little jumpy at idle

Just buy a rebuild kit for the carb. Clean it out good with carb cleaner. Also might want to buy a rebuild kit for the fuel pump. Total cost for both kits is under 25 dollars. You can get them from NAPA

I suppose you have already adjusted the carburetor mixture and idle screw as the first step.
