Hi everyone! I don't have a manual for my motor so I just wonder if anybody can tell me what is the procedure of changing the spark plugs and what are the proper plugs to use. I changed plugs in vehicle several time but never have done it on outboard since this is my first boat. Thanks.

if you have a local mercury dealer give them the modle # and they can give you the right plugs
they change out just like the ones in your car

Gonefishie, I have a 120 1996 I use NGK BUHW. Remember if the motor was winterized use the old plugs first. After running with it change to the new plugs. Get a manual, its the greatest info on your boat.Good luck fishing

does it have to be NGK brand? because when I checked with the autopart stores they don't have NGK but can cross reference it with other brands that have the same heat range and supposedly compatible. The old plugs are Champion L76V, both types cross referenced to the same plug only different brand.

Champ L76v ~ ngk buhw
Either one should work for you.

The ngk is a flat surface gap plug.
Easy to clean, just wipe it off.
Replace it when the center electrode burns away.

Here is a picture, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html
