I have a 97 Evinrude 150 Ficht, it is making me a poor woman fast!! For the past 2 years, I have been having engine trouble and after numerous visits and lots of $ to Hooks Marine in Hammond, Louisiana, I was once again stranded on a fishing trip with a boat load of kids!! After just taking it to be serviced and addressing the "miss" in the engine we had only ran the boat for about a total of 30 minutes (having stopped 3 times to fish different spots)when it began running bad. The best way for me to discribe it is it begins to run like there may be trash/water in the fuel, a cylinder is not firing/plug may be bad or a friend suggested maybe a bad injector. It just kind of sputters, you can have it wide open and barely be moving. Sometimes it will quit running completely as it did on me this weekend and sometimes it will just suddenly begin running smoothly again. I have tried to explain the problem to the service dept at Hooks, they have changed the fuel/water separator and the plugs, but this has not corrected the problem. What can I do? I'm tired of not knowing if we will get home or not!!
