I have a 1997 Evinrude Oceanpro 150, FICHT, fuel injected engine. I believe the model # is 187088. Any time I open it up all the way, or now sometimes when running even 3/4 throttle for a few minutes, the buzzer and ck engine lamp come on. I shut it down, and then it goes off. The engine runs fine otherwise. I took it to the mechanic, who after three weeks said they could not make the light come on and found nothing wrong. The said they loaded the motor but were running it in a tank. They replaced the spark plugs. I can put the boat in the water and have the buzzer on in 45 seconds at WOT. According to the owner's manual, the ck engine lamp only indicates a fuel flow problem. The mechanic said this engine does not set trouble codes like the newer models. I did check the fuel filter and the anti siphon valve. Both are clean and appear to be working fine. I can't find any kinks or leaks in the fuel line. The strainer on the pickup is clean, tank is full. Any ideas? Help!

It's a steady beep that doesn't stop until I drop down to idle -it comes on simulataneously with the warning light.

Jason, I have a '98 Carbed Johnny 150V6. The Check Engine alarm is a fuel restriction alarm. I got the alarm whenever I nailed the throttle. I ended up removing the antisiphon valve in the fuel pickup line in the fuel tank. That solved it. I do not know if the FICHT alarm is the same.

Thanks Chris. I took the valve apart yesterday and it seemed to move freely. Today I took the boat out and it ran find on the way to the beach, then on the way back it started bogging down and finally we had to idle back to the marina with my 2 year old nephew screaming. Fun day on the water. So after giving the boat dealer $140 to tell me there is nothing wrong with my engine, now it runs worse. We could get it to plane off a few times by pumping the bulb, but not for long. This is obviously a fuel problem, but why couldn't a huge dealership with certified mechanics find the problem? What should I check next? I can't find any kinked lines, the tank seems to be venting fine, etc. I am flustered.
