Re: 97 150 fast strike compression test weird to me
That engine has good compression. I purchased one of these a number of years ago. Think it was a 96 Faststrike. Had 122 lbs on the top 4, and 110 on the bottom two. I called one of the tech reps from the factory. Turns out that after a few years of production, the factory made a change to the heads on these V6 60 degree loopers. They made the head chambers larger on the lower two cyls. This is the reason the bottom cyls run lower compression. I will surmise it has something to do with exhaust heat relief/piston chamber cooling. Years ago, some of the 90 degree V6's with the 25" lower units had different high speed jetting between carbs. Think the lower cyls ran larger jets or something. Just different ways of achieving long-term durability. Run it the way it is.
