'97 115HP SPL just stops

I've had this happen with increasing frequency- while trolling, my 115 SPL just comes to a dead stop with no warning, no other oddities whatsoever. Most times, it starts right back up, if you restart it right away. If you leave it sit for a half hour, it is hard to start and takes a long time to smooth out.
What could cause this? It runs great at WOT.

Have you checked the spark on it when it happens ?? Spark should jump a 7/16" open air gap on a tester.

Not sure how I would do that since it is such an intermittent thing and seems to only happen when it's in gear. I'd almost have to have a tester that can go on each cylinder while it's running??

Maybe I'll just replace both powerpacks and all four coils and see if that helps?
