96'Yamaha 701 Rpm/Jet Pump ????

Hey guys I have a 96 Yamaha Waveraider 701 engine.Its been running great until today I took it for a spin in the bay and it ran super.I came back picked up my son 11 and proceeded to take him for a ride.We idled out of out canal and when we got to the bay I proceeded to plain off but when I gave it some throttle it started to plain and then the engien rpm reved up and no speed.Kinda like when I spun my prop on my boat.I rediced the throttle adn tryed it again it did the same thing so we idled back in.Later today my wife wanted to try it so she did and it plained off ran great for about 2 miles and she stopped it then tryed to take off again and the same thing that happened to me happened to her engine revs up no speeds so she idled in.My ??? is what will cause this kind of action bad jet pump?If so what goes bad in them?Thanks Edgar

Cavitation?<br /><br />Is it possible that weeds are getting stuck on the intake grate?<br /><br />It doesn't take a lot of weeds to cause this problem. Just a small handful will do this to many PWCs.<br /><br />Easiest way to check is to reach under there and feel for weeds.<br /><br />Just my thoughts. If it isn't something this simple I will be of little help.
