Rebuilding a 90's 5.0 I/O engine. Carbs are my weak point. Worn ID photo attached.

I see a few remans for 9670 carbs online, does the -4 at the end mean anything? I've seen a few 9670A-2 carbs for sale, but not a -4 yet. Would any 9670 reman work?

Ayuh,..... That's a MercWeber 4bbl. which is an exact carbon copy of the Eldebrock 1409 carb,...

Edlebrock parts are cheaper, 'n easier to get, so buy yer parts for the 1409,...

It might have the same CFM but I doubt the 1409 is Calibrated the same as the 9670, when it is taken out of the box

Ayuh,.... True enough, but reusing the jets, needles, 'n springs from the Oem carb, would bring it back to spec,.....

Unless corroded to crap, I'd just get a kit, 'n rebuild the Oem carb,.....

Type in 1409 into the search box on the Edelbrock site to bring up the AFB bible,....

Thanks guys, I'm going to replace it, it's from an engine rebuild and the current one is pretty trashed. I'll check out the 1409.
