Hope some one can help I have a 1996 sea doo gtx with no spark and i have checked all the fuses ( two up front and one in the rear) I have read my service manual and and the trouble shooting tells me that it could be the ignition module. Has anyone else had this problem before?

there is a small box next to the battery in that box is your coil, very carefully check the ground wire that goes from inside the box to the battery negative side, if that wire is not working properly you will get zero spark, also the ground from the battery to the engine block by the starter, remove the bolt holding the ground on and clean the block and the ground cable, then reattach the cable. both these items are really common problems with that model.

I too have the same seadoo model. I am experiencing what i believe to be a ignition problem. When cold, the seadoo will not rev more than 4k rpm and sounds like it is going to die. It will idle but not rev out. After about 5 or 10 minutes of idleing around, it wakes up and runs normally. Should I be checking the same type of things?

you probably have a fuel starvation issue and not an ignition problem

Mine did the same thing, appear if I let it run (idle) for a minute, then it will go, else it dies.

I think thats a boat issue, my bayliner has an issue also with starting cold. have to go slow befor gunning it, else it dies also.

Someone told me its the carb, if it was fule injected, thats not an issue.

Also, as for no spare, I once had the battery cable come loose. Once I tightened the connections, worked fine.

Now its time to put my toys to bed! We have snow already! - and the boats are still in the water! guess whats I'm doing this weekend! ( nothing like going jetskiing in a snow storm!)d:)

Re: 96 sea doo gtx no spark

I just bought a 96 Seadoo GTX with this same similar problem. Before I bought it the seller had the mechanic do the following:
Replaced ignition control module
replaced 2 carb kits
carb cleaner kit
spark plugs
Rev. limiter kicking in and not running proper
R&R control module and reprogrammed
Removed and replaced carbs and cleaned
Flushed fuel system of rust sediment
clean fuel filter assembly.
When I picked up after this it ran great. Second time I took it out it did the same as before. It would idle at 10rpms for 5 or 10 mins. and then would open up and run great. Then it would bog down again and not run for another10 mins. Called the mechanic today and he said this is a problem with the 96 GTX and does not know what else to do. Any suggestions?
