Hi all, hoping someone might be able to provide some advice. I have a 1996 Merc Force 90 hp. it has been having issues starting and outright did not start recently. Ran it all morning pulling the kids on the tube, end of day went to dock to get boat on trailer and boat would not start. The engine turned over and starter engaged, pulled all the plugs and they were wet (fuel), burnt them off and checked for spark, spark was good. Took the boat to a merc mechanic (actually at a shop, not a backyard) and they replaced they ignition, mechanic said I was given the wrong key when I purchased the boat last year. I thought that was a bit odd, since the boat has started and run fine up to now albeit the key did stick. They checked the stator and it was good as were the carbs. I replaced the fuel filter and all the plugs and put a new battery in. took the boat out the previous weekend for a quick cruise (after ignition repair) and had a bit of trouble getting it started, ran hard for about an hour and then put boat away. This weekend took boat back out, stuck and dock and would not start, engine turned over and starter engaged but didn't seem to spin the fly wheel very fast. tried for about 45min and could not get going. Took boat back to city, put battery on charger and tested in driveway, still would not start. All the conections are tight and clean. I am thinking the starter is done, any suggestions. (sorry for the lengthy message)
