Hi guys, kind of new at 2 stroke motors so any help would be appreciated..
I just bought this motor a few weeks ago, the old owner said it has run just fine since he bought it new.. I can get it started in my driveway, after cranking and priming repeatedly for about 10 min.. Then it runs and stays running fine..
Out on the water is a totaly different story, the only way I can get it to start on the water is to tilt the lower unit out of the water and prime and crank, when it finally catches I have to give it some gas to keep it running then drop the lower unit back in the water.. after running on the water full bore to clean it out and get to operating temperature, I can shut it down and it still wont start with the lower unit fully submerged.. Once again I would have to tilt it back out of the water to start it?? So far I have changed the plugs, the fuel filter, and put brand new gas in it. And it also likes to stall when brought back down to idle
Thanks :(

Sounds like you have carb problems. Overhaul the carbs with particular attention to float needles and float settings. Seems that you are flooded until you tilt it up and spill off the surplus fuel.

Good luck and let us know what you find. :)
