Use a prop aluminum or stainless with a pitch that will allow your engine to operate in the upper end of the engines recommended WOT operating range. If you have an owners manual ,this WOT operating range will be listed.Otherwise as Walleyehed states ,post the hp of your engine and someone can supply you with the recommended WOT rpm range for your engine. Most OMC v4 engines will be 5500-5800.

rcpilot,

You really need to know rpm.

However, a general all around good prop for that engine is a: 13 1/4" diameter by 17" pitch.

I'd say the same for a starting point. Length of boat would help to estimate needed prop as well.

I have an 1995 Johnson V-4 88 special, same as a 90 except I mix my own oil. It's on a 16-1/2 foot Sprint fish and ski.weighs someplace around 1200 pounds, I running a 14 by 17 OMC alumi prop at 5200 rpm I run 39 mph[GPS} and get just a tad over 5 mpg . By the way walleyehed do you still have a Finley Pontica Dealer there since Darold Finley retired
