I got a 96 gsx seadoo that cuts out at high rpms, or above 3000. Acts like it running out of gas but i don't know. Sounds like its bogging. Any help would be appreciated. It done great last year.

that isn't it,, your float is bad in the sending unit , but it has nothing to do with the engine running badly

the fuel gauge not working could be an indirect indicator. The foam float finally succumbed to years of sitting in gas, and now the remains of it are in your carb, along with the fuel lines that tended to dissolve in pre '98 seadoo's.

Have you checked the fuel filter? I had a 96 XP and it was located in the front compartment. You just unscrewed it and dumped it out. Mine got pretty nasty if we didn't do it every season.

sea doo uses a plastic float and the older ones use a black composite float no foam floats. usually the issues are bad diaphragms and clogged internal filters,, also bad fuel lines and bad fuel selector switches. or water in the fuel tank, loose fuel line clamps allowing air to get pulled in the lines, weak fuel pumps , loose pulse tube to the fuel pump.

Re: 96 GSX Seadoo problems!

the filter is BEFORE most of the fuel line, and besides, most of the stuff from dissolving lines will pass through a sediment filter. (GSX's don't really have true paper element fuel filters, the filter they have is just to trap the larger particles via a small mesh screen)

If you have grey fuel lines, i'd be willing to be your carbs are plugged up. Those lines WILL dissolve over time, especially if you have ethanol fuel. If they are the grey colored lines, don't run it any more until you get the carbs cleaned out and new fuel lines. Later models got black fuel line, I think most '98's had black.
