96 force 40 hp,runs great sometimes

got many things fixed,really didnt get any help from u guys,but oh well,,now we got the motor running good,,timing is right on,gas is good,fuel pump working,,water pump working,,BUT! when the moter gets warm,the spark is to weak to start it,let it sit awhile,it starts right up,stays running great,untill we turn it off,then it has to sit about hour,and it will start right back up,with good spark,but let it get warm and turn it off,,wont start,does anyone know what could be causeing this problem, as long *** it running with muffs on,,it stays running,but if we shut it off,has to sit again,befor it will start,any ideas ? thanks for a great boating site guys why would it not start,only after running,,the motors not hot,it seems like there is some kind of senser that is not letting the motor start till it cools awhile,is there a temp cut off senser in this motor

Are you saying it wont crank or it won't run?in my 89 after market manual it is a battery ignition.using points.It doesn't seem likely that both coils are heat sensitive.Though if the points are too close they might not work right when hot.
If it won't crank there is a neutral safety switch that my be defective or misadjusted causing it to fail when hot.

it runs great,,but after about 10 to 15 minutes,it will shut off,,it still getting spark when we try to restart it,but it seems weak,if we let it cool about 30 minutes,it starts rite up,with stong spark,we thought it was getting hot,untill we realized the spark was weak,then we tesed it,,and sure enough,after 20 or 30 mintes,the spark is back,and it stats up again,,we bought this boat used,and we think it may have had this problem for along time now
