hey guys i have a 1996 evinrude 60 degree loop charged 90 hp v4 engine. when i start the boat it sounds great for a split second until it cuts out. compression is good, sparks is good, fuel is good. i hear a noise coming from the starter area once it cuts off, my opinion is that the starter is stuck "up" and making continuous contact with the flywheel. it makes a strange "eerrrr" noise then shuts off the engine. i would like to take the starter out to maybe see if i can save it by spraying it with crc then giving it some greese maybe. it seems like a big mission to take off the flywheel case and what not which are located above the actual starter, so i took out all 3 bolts from the starter and i cant get it to drop loose outa the flywheel case. any advice and/or feedback would be great guys thanks.
