96 evinrude 175hp fuel leak

top left carb is leaking in the area of the mixture screw between plastic bowl and al intake spacer.Common problem? Likely causes?

gasket appears black. mixture screw window is brown.bowl gasket appears black also. could it be the screw o-ring?

Shouldn't be any o-ring on a screw. Are you refering to the mixture screw??? No o-ring there either. Black gasket on side cover too?? Black bowl gasket is ok. Take the carb off and remove bowl, see if the bowl is cracked or if bowl gasket is distorted.<br /><br />-John

Not really. 4 bolts 2 long, 2 short and 1 posi-drive screw. Pay attention to where long and short bolts go. When re-installing, get all 4 bolts and screw in close before snugging tight - DO NOT over-torque.<br /><br />You gottem' service manual??<br /><br />-John

posi-drive screw? looks like sheet metal screw? whats it for?
