96 200 hp evinrude vindicator shift shaft height

I an installing a new lower unit on my 200hp Evinrude. can some one tell me what the shift shaft height should be, how it is measured (from what to what?) and if it should be in forward reverse or neutral. Thank you!

Straight from my 1996 200 OMC manual:

20" V6 21 15/16 +- 1/32 in.
25" V6 26 15/16 +- 1/32 in.
30" V6 31 15/16 +- 1/32 in.

Best to post your model number in future posts.....had no idea on your shaft length, so I posted all three.
