I just purchased a 96 115 merc and I want to remove the lower unit to r&r the water pump.I havent bought a manual yet and wanted to know how to disconnect the shift shaft.Thanks
If you can't anwser a simply question, you say get a manual, it don't help anyone but with a couple of hundred of those awnsers it adds to your post count.
After shifting the unit in to forward gear and removing the 4 nuts and bolts and the lock nut and washer under the cavitation plate just slide the unit down the shaft is spined, just make sure the upper and lower shafts are in the same gear to reinstall the unit
