Last year my Waverunner started acting at times like it was starving for fuel. It would stumble coming out of turns when accelerating, and on a warm start would run for a few seconds and then die, requiring choking to start it again.
I changed the fuel filter and rebuilt the carb with a Makuni kit. The ski runs better, but the warm restart issue remains. It acts as though the fuel system is depressurizing after a short while, and when restarted, runs only on the fuel remaining in the line between the filter and carb.
Can anyone recommend the likely causes I should investigate?
I had thought about proactively changing the fuel lines with 1/4", but read recently that the return line from the carb to the fuel tank is a special hose with a built in restricter. Is this true? If so, are there any other hidden surprises in other lines I should know about that would preclude replacing the line with generic 1/4" fuel hose?
Thanks.
