I can't start the motor now, but had it running for about ten minutes (I've done this three times).
Generally what happens is that it turns over almost immediately after a 24 hour break. I can get it to full throttle (I've been running in neutral for the most part), but it's a little rough some chattering and power fades in and out. Ultimately it loses power and cuts out. I can start it again but can't get it back to full power. Ultimately it becomes impossible to start.
What Ive done:
Removed carb and cleaned it with solvent and blew it out. Replaced float needle
Emptied gas filter (it was good in the beginning but some little redish chunks have been showing up the last few times.) it never seemed clogged and I tapped it out pretty good.
Checked and have Valves on gas tank and oil resivior open
Changed plugs today, Had a good spark before it ran today.
Checked the anti-siphon on the external fuel line primer bulb and when she is running full out - gas seems to be moving pretty well through the fuel filter (it is clear and I can see it). Also when it is starting to loose power I gave the bulb a squeeze which didn't make any difference to keeping it alive.
I have done a lot of manually revving the throttle arm to keep it running through the rough spots, but ultimately cant keep going.
Just went to get new gas but never got a spark this afternoon after the last stall.
Finally checked the plugs before dark and they were covered in black (oil I suspect).
I was told it could be the power pack causing the uneven fire and ultimate inability to get a spark tonight, but I thought maybe the oil fouled plugs may be to blame. I kind of want to get the new gas through it but with no fire...
I've also been been told that since it sat for a while before I bought the motor that I need to "run it out".
Couple of more things, the 2 stroke oil was 1/4 full when I bought it and I didn't drain it.
Oh, here's the doosey - the two times that I did put it in gear and had her moving, when she was dying, she lost power then as best I can describe it, she fell out of gear and made a soft grinding sound). (the first time it never ran more than 30% power, the next time a week later after the carb cleaning I got full throttle before conking out).
Thanks for your thoughts.
