Runs excellent-suzuki 770 -manifold was loose when i got it , seemed like an easy fix-,,cleaned the surfaces, ran a tap into the holes ,cleaned everything till spotless, re assembled with a new gasket and torked the aquard allen bolts -w- lock washers with the ball head allen wrench " poor design issues" . All seemed well and after half a days ride the whole damn thing came loose again. Maby i should have used all new bolts and lock washers with lock tight??? there steel allen heads going into aluminum .

Most of the serious jet skiers hang out at greenhulk.net

They have a Tigershark section, and you might already have your answer if you do a search.

Take care!

did you use any type of threadlock on your bolts?

did you torque them in sequence? (circular pattern, starting inside and moving outward)

Thanks for your input. I will check the Green Hulk thing. I did not use lock tight but was taking into effect the steel bolts going into aluminum and the natural friction effect of the non ferrous metal. Next time i will lock tight the hell out of them as ime tired of doing the damn thing over and over again. And yes i torked them in the pattern necessary. I believe this is a chronic problem and was hoping others would confirm it as a design issue on this model 770.

I'm more of a yamaha person - but you need to loc-tite your bolts.

use blue, never red or green unless you want the installation to be darn near permanent.

of all the work I've done on my skis, I've only ever had to use red loctite once.

red loctite pretty much only comes off if you heat the parts to break the bond.

on a ski - it's almost a permanent installation.

don't ask me how I know that. :D

vibration is a trait of a shark

they vibrate quite a bit, and it's typical for the exhaust systems to crack...and come loose.

General advise..red threadlock..and lots of it. Allow it to set overnight. Use STAINLESS bolts, not some cheapo-stuff out of the hardware store bin. I now, expensive, but they don't stretch as much, which is vital to keep them tight.

Beware..repalcement pipes for a ts will break the bank, they list at $900. I had one welded last year..they are stainless stell, which is why they are more then uber pricey.

BTW, I'm a regualr at GH..great plce, but I was over here buying fuel line today and decided to join

Good question!

I have one theory: the site was originally set up for the hard core racers...and the owner didn't want a lot of amateur 'traffic'. All that has changed, and all brands, and owners, are right at home. Don't etch my theory into stone.
