Gents,

Last few trips the issue has occurred, It does have occasional idle problems but biggest thing is its losing WOT??sounds and runs smooth enough up to a point then just dies almost dead or to just an idle?then after a few seconds starts to take off strong again ?.I can plant it and it revs up hard and takes off clean before just dropping dead again, can sit at 18- 20knots all day no issues but any more than that problem pops up.

I?ve been over all fuel lines for leaks / restrictions
Cleaned pulse limiter?.only two years old
Carbs were rebuilt a few years ago?not leaks evident
Replaced fuel filter, last 1 replaced 12 months ago.
Cleaned tank pickups?replace pickup lines as old and had shrunken by the looks.
New spark plugs, old were coming out on the wet side not dry.
Have checked leads and coils, replaced 1 coil as rubber seem to have a puncture but no change...Ohm reading within limits in manual.

Looking at the trouble shooting next thoughts were..

linkage issue but can?t see how
Damaged VRO
Possible blocked high-speed orifice in carb although the boat is used regularly with clean fuel and regular filter changes?. maybe internal float issue.

Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated??

Regards
Brock...I'm on Aussie time...

Cheers Gents,

Ill check Raceone...but motor had full rebuild a few years back with new deflectors and tell tale relocated etc.

Todd, cheers for that. Did you get hold of a rebuild kit for the Fuel pump and has it fixed it ?....im still running VRO on mine.

Is the fuel tank venting properly, test it by running with the fuel cap loosened.
They can get partially clogged up with salt on the wire mesh if you have that type.
Edit: Or you could simply look at it to see if it's clear.

Cleaned pulse limiter as its in the trouble shooting section for VRO issues.....but will complete another compression test for sure.

Yes it is the mesh type and is clear....we have ran with cap off but no difference.

Pulled the carbs last night, stripped them down to find a bit of black plastic under main the float valve between the intermediate fuel orifice. its the small black spec near the dart flight and would explain the fuel restriction at high RPMs.

When we looked at that we thought fuel hose....hard to see...so we pulled the VRO down to find the culprit, dead ringer as the pattern and some of a missing piece.

I'm looking at $200 Aus dollars for rebuild kit or i go the new pumps and Pre mix at $144 Aus.....thinking its the first change out so diaphragm has lasted 23 years so with a new one it should be sweat as motor was rebuilt 2-3 years ago.

Thoughts gents...rebuild or go Pre mix ??

Thought id update this, nothing worse than researching threads to find problems but no report back on fix.

New pump arrived, not fully fitted into position yet as i still need to mount, pump needs mounting bolts added regardless otherwise they leak but that should go with out saying, few quick vids from the weekend. Must admit i really wanted to stay with the VRO but after this thing kicking straight in....consistent steady idle, the performance through the swell with boat loaded was a stand out, good solid power.

Should have done it sooner....like night and day!!
