I have a 1995 mercury 40 hp with electric start. After running the engine a while and shutting it off, it takes a very long time for it to refire. Sometimes it may catch immediately, but usually you have to crank on it and play with throttle and choke button to get it to fire back up. It is a little hard to start when cold too. Fuel bulb usually pumps up nice and tight. I could really use some help if anybody has some suggestions.

Thanks Van

Hello! This motor can be touchy when starting warm or cold. You will really have to learn your motor. Cold start- push and holdin key while cranking. Once engine fires,(will probably die also) then no choke, just nuetral throttle. should go. They tend to flood if you use too much choke. WARM START- if it sits for a while you will probably have to choke it again, but not much, remember they will flood out. Just make a mental note every time you start your motor, and you wont have a problem! good luck
