We had the boat on the water several days ago. Started fine after launching, but after stopping and fishing had a hard time starting. We have the boat in dry storage and went up today and cannot get it to turn over. With the cover off the starter gear will not turn. We have checked batteries and they are fully charged. We can hear some type of an electrical hum, but that is all when trying to start. Any ideas? Thanks,

Check all electrical connections and be sure they are clean and tight. Try bypassing the starter solenoid, if the starter turns, replace it. If bypassing the solenoid doesn't make the starter turn, it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Unfortunately, it sounds like the starter.

Best to check motor has not siezed before going too far. Remove the spark plugs, activate the kill switch, remove flywheel protective cover and then try to turn it over by hand.If it turns over freely you can eliminate a seizure, At least then you know it is electrical and not a mechanical (motor) problem.<br />Andy

Well, we took the boat to a local repair shop. The problems seems to be in trottle. May be the neutral start switch. He was able to start the motor by moving the trottle back and forth. My question is, how hard is this to replace. Thanks for all your help. JoAnn
