I am trying to determine what could be causing an intermittent beeping alarm sound coming from my 95 Mercury 115 HP two stroke. I was running on pad and it started beeping intermittently, not a continuous beep. Even turning the key to the on position causes the beeping to start. My inclination is that it is oil related... Any help would be greatly appreciated, never had this alarm occur on my boat.
I did check the oil reservoir and plent of oil in it and I do see the float. Thanks for any suggestions.

Perhaps your oil reservoir needs a new sensor, or the line is clogged. Last year or so, I s read a post here that dealt with changing the sensor/o rings in the reservoir. I took my reservoir off just after I got the boat and have been adding to gas ever since. It might also be an overheat problem in the motor.

The motor mounted oil tanks have a nasty habit of the adhesive failing to hold the magnet to the bottom of the float, the magnet fail onto or near the low oil magnetic switch causing the system to alarm.

Test by unplugging the blue wires to the switch located in the bottom of the tank. If unplugging them stops the alarm you will need to replace the tank assy as it is next to impossible to get the float out and re-glue the magnet back on reliably.

sensor magnet probably came loose from the bottom of float,,,,,, to test bend a stiff wire on a 90 degree angle get under bottom of float and lift this may stop the beeping,,,,,,the float can be remove and float and magnet be expoxed back together,,,,,,,,,, best bet buy new tank with float assembly factor install,,,,, about 75 bucks

Thank you to all for the quick responses and the wealth of knowledge you share. I am guessing it is the magnet on the bottom of the float and will try isolating it to determine if that is truly the problem by using the techniques you offered up. If this turns out to be the problem do any of you know a good place to find these oil tanks for a good price? I am just starting to look around on the internet and any info would again be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tyler

Disconnecting blue wire from bottom of tank ceased beeping soound. Can I assume it is the sensor magnet and go ahead and replace the tank with a new factory one? Thanks for all the help guys.
