I have a 1995 60 HP mercury with SN starting with 0G1. Symptoms are rough running, low power and misfire-like stutter at 2000+ rpm.

This all started immediately after I added seafoam to the gas tank so assumed it was a fuel system issue. I checked all the easy stuff first, then I went through the whole fuel system, cleaned carbs, rebuilt fuel pump replaced all hoses, replaced plugs. No significant issues found, no progress made.
Started working through electrical and found coils resistance in spec. Found one trigger lead significantly out of spec below the service IMG_20220602_191304038.jpgmanual minimum.
I don't have a DVA to test voltage. Is it safe to say that the trigger is the root cause and move forward with replacement or do I need to do more testing?

More testing...get a DVA meter and check outputs. Could be switchbox rectifier as around 2krpm is when it swaps from low to high

Yeah, I think I will. I did test the resistance on the stator. Both high and low were good. The service manual says the high side starts at 1k rpm.
