'95 Mariner Mag III - Has rattling sound at 4k RPM

Everything seems normal, but I'm hearing a continuous rattling sound at mid range. Kinda reminds me of the sound of a car motor makes when one gets pinging from cheap gas. Doesn't sound like a loose rod (had one of those on a 135) Haven't looked under the cover yet. Hope someone can give me a place to start. Have been using non-ethanol gas and Seafoam for the past three years or so (according to the sign on the pump). Thanks for any tips...BF

Pull tha gear case and take a peek at tha tuner. They will come loose and/or break completely off. Fall to tha bottom and make strange "rattlin' noises at certain rpm. You won't notice any performance difference but can really make ya go in circles tryin' ta find it. Have done "complete power head tear downs" lookin' for it. Have only seen this a coupla times but maybe its time for a water pump anyway............
