95 johnson 150

i have a 1995 johnson 150. somewhere around 1200 - 1500 rpms the engine feels like it is vibrating a lot. I spoke with a boat mechanic and he tells me this is a common problem deu to the engine going between low and high speed. Does this sound right??? Also yesterday while riding out boat keep missing, felt like it was dropping a cylindar then picking back up, bogging down, ran crappy. rode home ran like a top. while cruising around 3800 rpm i opened the throttel and an alarm came on for a split second. Possibly be a fuel pick up in the tank?? Any and all suggestions appreciated.

What was the alarm. Steady beep, quick beeps (on-off-on-off). Or Long pause between beeps. They all tell you something. so what have you done to isolate the problem? Did you check the plugs to see what they look like? How old is the fuel? Carbs ever been rebuilt?

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. pulled all the plugs all look good and alike. installed new fuel/water seperator, cleaned micro filter on engine (only few specs in the filter). Ran the boat again tonight and still seemed to be dropping/picking up a cylinder. The alarm i heard seemed to actually be the quick alarm sound that comes on when you first turn the key. When i returned in the driveway when i had the motor running to flush i pulled each plug wire off one at a time to see if i had a dead cylinder. All seemed to be firing. i have owned the boat for 2 years and i never touched the carbs. Every year i put the boat up i add fuel stabilizer. Being i heard the alarm as when you first turn the key i am leaning maybe towards more of an electrical problem???
