Do you think my outboard will run hot if I bore to .40 over on this rebuild instead of .30. ?Thanks I will probably rejet the carbs and put boyeson reeds in it. I will not touch the porting.

NO, IT will not over heat. remember that this is an outboard that has one giant radiator. When working with a cylinder the amount you bore to is only half that amount per side. If you bore to .040 that is only .020 off each side. make sure you have a .040 over piston in hand befor you have it cut. somtimes it is hard to get a .040 over piston, atleast from wisco.

I'm not sure the sleeves are big enough to bore it that far. ;)

Sorry, couldnt resist -- we're sure you mean .040. No problem. It'll be just fine. No real reason to rejet if youre just worried about the size.

If you think it will somehow be more powerful, it wont be.

Great motor. Good luck!

I'd try to bore the bad hole first. If it cleans, great. If not then a sleeve is a logical fix. If the others are OK (within spec) at .030 then thats great too.

If the bad hole is #1, then I'd make sure its not the glue seam leak. If it is then that has to be fixed also.

Someone already went .030 over on it and I just picked it up. I did not know if .040 would be fine. Thanks One cylinder is scored with 80 psi and the other have 120 so I will rebuild. I probably could resleeve that one to bring it to .030 or go to .040. What would you do?

Why don't you just bore and put a new piston .040 in the one that is bad and leave the others at .030 and put new rings on the pistons?.

The other cylinders will have to be measured with a dial bore gauge. Thats the only way to know if they're in spec or not. if they are, we're good with new rings. If they dont measure in spec then we should bore those too.
