Thankfully it has been a long time since I have had to ask any questions, but now I am up against it. The first time I took my 70 Force out this year it ran like a dream. A week later, I took it back out and as soon as I opened it up, it fell on it's face. I changed plugs but that did not help. It would idle OK, but would do nothing under load. I put a new fuel filter, though the old one looked OK, no difference. I got it home, put muffs on it and thought I found that my tank was not venting. After I took care of that, it seemed to run on the muffs great.

I took it out a day later and it ran like a dream.

This evening it started better than it ever has, but, once again, as soon as I opened up, it died, seemed like fuel, but the bulb did not collapse and the tank was well vented.

What next? Any help would be GREAT!

Doug

Ok, I took it back out tonight. It started hard, I changed tanks and it started immediately. I went through a no-wake zone with no problems. I went a mile up the river WOT and it ran really well. I then switched tanks to see if the tank was the problem. Immediately it refused to run when a load was placed on it. I switched back but could not even start it for long while. When it did start, it died under load. I did find that when the idle would begin to quit, I could choke it and it would help.

I am thinking that maybe it is a pinhole in the fuel pump diaphram. The filter screen in the first tank was pristine clean, so there seems to be no filth in the tank.

I am really confused now:confused:. Any help would be welcome.

Doug

It is a fuel problem. If the bulb stays up could be fuel pump or carb(s) Could even be sucking air between tank and motor (bad hose or damaged
connector or fittings.Unhook line between pump
and carb Carefully crank and observe fuel flow from pump, should be nice strong pulses.
Have you checked the various filters if any?

Thanks for all the help! I replaced the fuel line between the filter and carb with a clear line and discovered a lot of bubbles. The air was coming in at the union where the gas line joins the engine. All it took was clipping the line and reattaching the union!

Thanks again for all the help!
