Can someone please tell me if this motor needs to be in forward or nuetral to remove lower unit.Have it in forward now and it appears to be getting hung up on shift shaft.

Re: 95 force 120 lower unit removal

Remove the trim tab above the prop.
Then remove the bolt that is hidden up inside the trim tab "pocket."

Then remove the 4 bolts on the sides of the lower unit.

The shift shaft should slide apart at the union just above the lower unit on that model. There should be nothing to disconnect.

If you put controls into forward or reverse when you disassemble, then you just need to put the lower unit back into the same gear before you reassemble. The book says "put in forward," but I know it can be done in reverse also. Almost impossible to do this in neutral on these motors.
