I just finished replacing the complete water pump in my 200 H.P. Evinrude engine. After reassembly, I connected my garden hose to the flush port and turned on the water. The preasure gauge at the helm only shows approx. 3 psi of water preasure with the engine off. Lots of water is running out all around the lower unit. When I briefly started the engine, the preasure only rose another 2 or 3 psi. I remember it being alot more than that, even at idle. When I disconnected the hose, enough water ran out of the engine that I think the powerhead was full of water. I suspect, somehow, that I dont have a good tight seal between the water pump output stem and the water line it mates up with to carry water up to the powerhead. By the way, I only replaced the pump cause it was due, it was working fine before I "fixed" it! Any thoughts on this, anyone ?
