My 95 donzi has been sitting for 18 months and has gone through 2 winters not winterized. What can I expect?

I dont know your boat / engine. The biggest problem I can see is if it has frozen with water inside and the blocks cracked. It really all depends on where its been stored at what temperatures and what condition the engine was in to start with. Ive had outboards stored in a garage for 2+ years that have started and ran fine after a few pulls.

FREEZING WATER EXPANDS AND IT IS STRONG ENOUGH TO PUSH METAL AROUND....HOPEFULLY IT WAS STORED IN FLORIDA?

Re: 95 Donzi Jet Boat

I should have known to be more specific. It's a 16' jet boat with a 90 hp mercury inboard. Here's the deal, I took it to a marine shop. They said 1500.00 to fix the stator, cdi and major tune up. I gave them half down over 18 months ago and since then nothing has been done to it and the company refuses to fix my boat and refuses to give back my 750.00 deposit. I'm thinking they don't want to fix it now because they know they screwed up by not winterizing. Upon start-up may produce a big problem.

I don't think you will have a problem ,that is just an old force 3 cyl out board engine and it dosen't hold water in the block like a jet ski does, the stator blows out when the rectifier goes bad and if they put in a new stator and did not replace the rectifier they blew the brain box as soon as they turned off the engine, or if they did not know it was the rectifier they put in a stator and did not change the brain , 95 may have had the old stator or the new one there were 2 different ones, both will blow the brain box if the rectifier goes out. I developed a system to prevent that from happening and told mercury about it but the big guys hate any one telling them how to fix a problem that makes them a lot of money selling replacement parts. They only fix what is costing them money under warranty. Once it happens out of warranty it makes them money, and they don't use those any more so why worry. I would file a complaint against the people who took your money,, you will definitely need to completely clean out the fuel system and replace the battery , those carbs are the simplest ones to work on that I have ever seen, so no problem there. There are a few companies that sell a complete stator, brain, rev limiter, rectifier and resistor, aftermarket kit for around 700 dollars, just about any one can replace the parts all you need is a flywheel puller to get access, takes about an hour to do the entire set up ,, call your local prosecutor to see about consumer fraud and any local media and see how fast the money gets returned. Some info that may help, check with your napa auto parts store they carry a huge supply of marine parts most people don't know this, even the clerk may not know it, tell them to look in the computer in the store under small engine parts they have carb kits fuel pump kits gaskets brain and electrical parts they even have a catalog #msp-5 and possibly a new one msp-6,, hope this helped...

Re: 95 Donzi Jet Boat

have a donzi jet boat with a 120 sportjet on it. i am having trouble getting it to start. I read some of the forums and it said to unhook the black/yellow kill wires to see if it is a kill switch problem. so i tried that and still had no spark. so i tried switching the stator wires around. i switched the red,red wires to red,red/black and got spark in the top 2 cyl but nothing on the bottom 2. so i tried it with the blue, blue switched to blue,blue/white but still no spark on the bottom 2 cyl it is the original black stator with red,red/black,blue,blue/white wires. coming out of it. what is the proper way to check ignition coils, stator, rectifier. things of that nature? i have a ac dc volt meter i can check ohms and ma. but i need to know what wires to check and the proper procedures. thanks.
