Are you able to reach max rated rpm?

rpm gauge doesnt work but i say so cause its diffently wide open according to throttle--it runs good just wondering if i can get a little more without alot of cost--mph doesnt work either but i say maybe low 30's max

You need both a working tach and some way to measure your speed to know what prop to use, without those tools you have no clue as to what prop you may need.

Raising the motor mounting height reduces gearcase drag and increases speed, up to a point. Too high and you reduce handling to an unsafe level, water inlets must always remain covered at planing height/speed.
