My remote iqnition and tilt trim do not work on my Honda. I have checked the fuse on the starter, the neutral safety swithch, and all batery connections. If the iqnition goes bad, does it affect your tilt/trim on remote? the tilt/trim works on the motor, not on remote switches? thanks in advance for any assistance, Don

Check the remote harness connections at the motor. If the tilt/trim works at the engine and not at the remote it is a harness problem. Disconnect the main harness plug and check connections. Disconnect and connect several times than check operation. It is highly unlikely the ignition switch and tilt/trim switch failed simultaneously so a connection problem is the likely problem.

Re: 95 40hp honda iqnition problem

I will finally get a chance to look at it this weekend, after your post (upinsmoke) I checked the harness and found the boat distrubitor had cut into the harness to install a tilt/trim in the front of the boat. I pulled the tape off and water was in the harness and the wires were cut into when the harness wrap was cut to splice in the tilt/trim. Even if that is not the problem, I am glad I found it..Thanks

Thanks (upinsmoke), I found two bad wires in the harness. The BL/R and the WH/G did a repair and runs great, now I need to find a new harness..
Thanks again.. It is hard to find help on the Honda forum..kinda like the maytag man..
Don
