95 120 Force

I am getting a high pitched whirr that lasts one to two seconds after the engine starts. This is new and coincides with my wife entwining a rope in the prop. <br /><br />Boat runs and accelerates fine.<br /><br />Seems to happen about 75% of start-ups.<br /><br />Any Ideas?

Is the starter disingaging from the flywheel after it starts? If you had rope caught in the prop you may want to check to make sure you are not getting water in the lower unit. I doubt if this would cause the noise you are describing, I am suprised the pin did not shear in your prop when this happened.

Upper driveshaft bearing whining due to play or water damage, until oil gets splashed up there? When's the last time you checked the lower unit fluid??
