94 yamaha waverunner will not start after running out of oil.

My yamaha wave runner will not start.I took it out and was running fine,it died and would re start and run for about 5 seconds.It done that a couple of times then would not start at all. I had to be towed in. The gas guage showed 1/4 tank but after opening it up it i seen it was almost empty.I also noticed that there was no oil in the oil tank.The guage on the wave runner made it look like it was still full.
i filled the oil and put gas in but it still will not start.Pulled the plugs they look fine, seems to have fire, also tried to prime the carb with gas and nothing.
Is there a sensor that will kill the motor if it runs out of oil?

pull both plugs, remove the black plastic coupler cover and turn engine over by hand.

observe the pistons, make sure each one moves up and down - when one is up, the other will be down.

if visual check shows good - do a compression test and post results.
