94 Yamaha Waveraider 750

Runs about half to two thirds full throttle then gets worse. Will barely go with throttle wide open. When you open the cover has alot of smoke. Tested both cynlinders and fire and compression are fine. Changed spark plugs and fuel filter very little change. The smoke bothers me and the water coming out the side, not the back is hot.

Any suggestions before I spend money on a real mechanic?

I want to say the side is a cooling port for safety to tell you that the engine is getting water. I'm not a mechanic at all, and I'm sure someone else will post on this. But perhaps you should have the cover open when it is running with the hose, alot of smoke may mean an exhaust leak of some sort.
