Maybe someone can satisfy my curiosity. I once bought a new 94 model Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke. This was a short shaft, tiller, 2 cyl model, forget the model #. (Possible it was a '93 leftover, I forget.)<br /><br />I sold the motor with the original manual, but I swear I remember the manual stating to break in the 4 stroke with premix oil in the first tank.<br /><br />I know this causes skepticism among many but as an engineer I am pretty anal about things like this so I remember it since it was so unusual.<br /><br />Does anyone have this vintage engine with factory owners manual that could check the break in instructions? Or does anyone else ever remember seeing similar instructions for a 4 stroke?<br /><br />I know the obvious issues with carbon fouling, etc. - this is just an excersise in curiosity at this point.<br /><br />Thanks!
