I puchased a 1994 Rader with the 90hp motor just recently. The previous owner said it was something in the ignition. After researching these boats, i decided to buy it. I first noticed alot of rust all over the mounting plate and screws so I completely removed all of the ignition parts and cleaned up the plate and all connectors. I hooked everything back up and started testing. I basically bought a manual and then used more reference materials fromt this site to determine that I had a red stator, type II regulator and bullet connector switchbox. After carefully using DVA to test everything, i found no issues at all with most componants. In fact, everything is within spec. RED stator voltage/resistance=OK Voltage from stator adapter to blue wire on swtchbox=OK, regulator=OK, triggers resistance=OK, rpm limiter is disconnected and Switch Bias = 2.5v+. Everything seems to be within specs except that GREEN, GREEN/White, Greem/red to coils do not register anything. I decided to take a look at number one spark plug and when I pulled it out I knew why the boat messed up. The sparkplug was an off the shelf plug with long barrell(BPR4ES) and top of cylinder hit it and closed the tip and bent the spark point down into plug. I thought maybe it messed the piston up but I don't think it ever was started again with the broken plug. Compression is good on all cyclinders and I took a small dental mirror/light and piston top has a ding but only tiny one. I'm pretty sure it just barely touched the plug and closed the plug. I'm also sure this is what killed the electronics. Anyways, my question is, Did the wrong sparkplug closing probably cause this problem and is it my switchbox since all voltages and bias is good but i get no voltage to coils? What would closed sparkplug cause on the switchbox to fail? I'm sure the switchbox is bad but just want some more opinions. Thanks everyone.

The proper plugs for your motor are CHAMPION L76V surface gap plugs , get a set of them and check for spark , Also please post tests done , OHM nad DVA readings as this can provide the proper direction to go in
