94 sea rayder steering wheel removal help!

i have center bolt and base apart and it seems shaft and steering wheel one piece does any one know ?

put nut back on shaft to protect threads. now get into a crouched position with your knees behind the steering wheel, applying pressure away from the dash, now knock hell out of the center post with the nut on it. with a hammer, it should pop loose. it is a beveled compression fitting.

That might work on a center console..not an F-16...

Go to NAPA and buy a steering wheel puller, $20..save yourself alot of hassles.

Agreed, it is also can be known as a Harmonic Balancer puller. Different name but mine works for steering wheels as well.

Ayuh,....

I've pulled Abunch of steering wheels with my knees,+ a BFH,.....

Usually,... 1 Good Swat is all it takes.....

Ever seen a SeaRayder ?? There's not enough room behind the steering wheel to get your knees behind it,i've owned searayders and seadoo jet boats...for both a steering wheel puller is the only way to go.

Just get a second person. Have them pull the wheel straight up, you wack the nut and the wheel will pop off.

This forum is a life saver, after loosing the fight trying to get steering wheel off I went straight to this forum and did a search. So many people have had this same problem. After reading the solutions given here I couldn't stop laughing because I almost pulled my arms out of their sockets trying to pull that d@! steering wheel off last nite So today I went to autozone and the loaned me a gear puller that I used right there in the parking lot. Took less that 2 minutes and since I did it in there parking lot all I had to give them was my drivers license. steering wheel removal should be made into a sticky.
