Could anyone please help. I have a 94 Sea-Doo GTX, with a new motor rebuild, by the local Marine. Comp. strong in both cyl. prob. after running it for the first time this year, within ten min. I could not get over 30mph. Feels strong. I took it back and there was gas in the cyls. they said the gas cap was not venting and causing preasure to build up and that would cause the cyls. to get gas in them. They removed the gas from the cyl. and I need to get a gas cap. Has anyone ever herd of this and if so, what year gas caps will fit the 94 GTX. Thanks so much for your time.

Whoever "they" are "They" are full of s**t. the jet skis DO NOT have gas caps with vents. if they had vents on the gas caps that would allow water into the tank theough the vent. Thats for cars. there is however a check valve on the gas tank. the check valve is located on the top of the gas tank. youll see it when you take off your front storage compartament. the check valve is supposed to be installed in a certain position. Reason for that is because the vent is a one way check valve. Make sure its installed the right way. it looks sort of liek a dunce hat and is usually two colors One side red the other black or orange and black. usually has a little arrow and a VENT written in the arrow.
A gas cap wont help you. I dont see how you were flooding the ski when you were running the ski. I can see flooding it because the gas tank overpressurized and it overcame the pop off pressure of the carb needle and seats but otherwise when you were runing it it doesnt sound right.
Either way the gas cap isnt the problem.
Next time run it again as is. then if it happens as youre riding crack open the gas tank cap. if the motor runs well again you have a vent check valve problem. Rob

Thanks, is there anything I need to do to check the check valve, to clear this prob. up. There was also a solid beeping or whistling sound coming from under the storage compartment. It would go away but from time to time, would come back. Would this be the check valve, building or releaving preasure. Again thanks.
