Hi all.

I'm having trouble with my engine. I just had the carb cleaned and the plugs changed and it's still doing the same thing. It cranks o.k. and then at first it will run good for a few minutes. But then it starts stalling and bogging down. It's not too bad when going idle speed or even half throttle, but as soon as you kick it up, it starts sputtering and bogging. I've had this engine for over 10 years and it's been pretty good to me, but I can't figure this problem out. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you running it in moist, cold weather? If so, it could be carburetor icing.

Misty weather with temps between 32 and 40 degrees is perfect for ice build up.

The way to test this is to let the engine get to temp. Once it runs bad turn the engine off for a couple of minutes to melt the ice. Start it and it should run good for just a few minutes until the ice builds up again.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in South Louisiana, it's almost always hot down here so ice isn't an issue.

Your going to have to determine if the problem is ignition or fuel system related before you do anything else.

Start by checking fuel pump if you have not changed/serviced for the past 10 years, look diaphgram state for leaks, change accesories, or buy a complete pump kit.
