Ok outboard gods, I’m still having this fuel starvation issue on my 94 Johnson Fast Strike.

I replaced the VRO today with a new OMC replacement. That was supposed to be the last thing there was to try! (Guess not)

Symptoms are:

Runs great up to 3750 rpms.

Any further throttle, falls flat and will die if you dont pull it back.

While its falling flat, push and hold choke (fuel injector) and you can get 5000rpm!

Here’s the weird part.

If your in rough water, and you give it throttle to where it starts to fail, the pounding of the rough water will make it run,?just like you were hold choke in.

Something loose somewhere that limits the fuel to 3700rpm?

Been through every carb.

Tried separate small fuel tank, connected directly to the white plastic fuel filter just before Vro.

Vacuum leak?

Electrical?

Fuel delivery?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure why you would replace that expensive pump without taking it apart for inspection !-------The carburetor bowls often warp with age.---Were they checked , yes or no ?

Actually rebuilt the VRO prior. Just grabbing at straws now.
Have replaced all 6 of the bowls earlier.
gaskets, carb kits, (left out the spacer gadket for the needle/seat) set all the floats to be parallel with the carb body w/gasket, inverted.

am going to run on a small tank again this Am to make sure its confined to the fuel circuit on the engine.
Somewhere, she is starving!
